RYANAIR to set up a Paphos Hub

Date: 31/01/12

The new international airport in Paphos is to host two Ryanair Boeing 737-800 on a permanent basis.

The Cypriote hub will be Ryanair’s 50th and is expected to be operational for the all important tourist season in April 2012.

The 14 new destinations from Paphos are to London-Stansted, Memmingen, Bergamo, Oslo, Pisa, Rome, Stockholm, Frankfurt Hahn, Kaunus, Krakow, Thessaloniki, Treviso, Patra and Chania.. However some of these 14 new routes on offer are bound to raise some eyebrows with London the only UK airport being served. Despite this Ryanair is planning to run 80 flights a weeks and hope to carry an estimated 600,000 people in the process creating 600 new jobs.

Taking into account the ruthless business practices of Ryanair’s Bosses, it will be interesting to see if all 14 routes currently on offer survive the first year or will be replaced with other more established routes to the UK.

We wait in hope for Paphos to Moscow and St.Petersburg with Ryanair for 100 Euro return!
