Located to the East of Paphos and only a few kilometeres from Paphos International Airport Geroskipou is a municipality in its own right with some 7,000 residents. Known in ancient times as the “Garden of Aphrodite” pilgrims would pass through Geroskipou on their way to the nearby Temple of Aphrodite, the most ancient remains of which date back to the 12th century BC.

Today Geroskipou combines the ancient with the modern to great effect. Here the Byzantine five dome church of Agia Paraskevi, built in 9th century A.D. is rubbing shoulders with all the modern facilities you can imagine right on the central square of the village. Inside the village square we find traditional red clay pottery shops and the world famous Loukoumi (Cypriot Turkish delight), which are unique to Geroskipou. The recently completed Nick Faldo designed Elea Golf and Country Club is only 2.5 km from the village centre.Geroskipou is also home to the ever-popular Ricos Beach that stretches over 1.5 km and benefits recently erected wave brakers making this coast a wonderfully safe destination for the entire family.

Whether you are a fun of seafood or have more general tastes your lunchtime will be taken care of by Atlantida Beach Bar & Restaurant. And should you have small kids in your company they would love to visit the nearby Luna Park. Further still the famous Paphos Aphrodite water-park is conveniently located only 400 meters inland from Ricos Beach. In one word, plan to spend a day filled with fun on Geroskipou coastline.

Large Paphos developers have been busy in Geroskipou. Some notable resort projects worth mentioning are Leptos Estates Aphrodite Springs and Pafila’s Athena Gardens. Neapolis or “New Town” is an ambitious project to the south of the town by Leptos Estates that targets to cover over 1 million sq. meters of mixed use including the Neapolis University, retail shops and residential units.
